FDA states, independently on two separate patient pages, that a shield is placed at the end of LASIK surgery specifically to stop you from rubbing your eye or putting pressure on it while you sleep — because no stitches hold the corneal flap in place.

The shower question — technique vs. a physical barrier
UVA's handout is direct on this: "Do NOT let the shower spray hit your eyes." That's a technique instruction, not necessarily a required purchase — tilting your head back or angling the shower away from your face works for most people. The 3-piece set above is the one product on this page that answers it with an actual waterproof shield instead of technique alone.
Good to know: the 3-piece set is marketed for cataract surgery, not LASIK by name. The need to keep a healing eye dry is the same for both procedures. Its third "outdoor/go out" piece is general light and impact protection; it is not confirmed swim-rated and does not answer the separate 8-week swim-goggle instruction in UVA's handout — that's a separate gap, covered on the LASIK guide.
